Objectives

  • To achieve enough skill to visualise and understand architecture and its environment.
  • To know the use of handmade drawing as an analysis tool for architecture.
  • To achieve sufficient skill to express and represent the forms of architecture from outlines and sketches. 
  • To know the tools and graphic techniques to conduct the data collection of architectural and urban spaces. 
  • To use and master the graphic tools to represent the architectural project.
  • To know the use of symbols and graphic signs used in architecture.
  • To qualify the student to explain the spaces and forms of architecture by the diverse systems and techniques of representation.

 

Content

THE SPACE IN THE WORLD OF ARTS, CULTURE AND ARCHITECTURE:

The drawing of spaces with representation systems for projecting. Application criteria.

· Conical perspective. Basic concepts. Vanishing sections
· Representation systems in top and front views. Sections
· Introduction of light incidence in facades and indoor spaces

 

THE SYNTHESIS SKETCH OF NATURAL:

· Outline of perspective sketches.
· Indoor and outdoor spaces.
· Constructive elements
· Judgements for representation of texture and settings.

 

SKETCHES FOR THE DATA COLLECTION. STRATEGIES AND BASIC GUIDES:

· Sketches of quality furniture elements.
· Sketches of architectural spaces with simple forms.
· Sketches of architectural spaces with compound forms.
· Sketches of spaces and facades aggregation.

 

ERGONOMICS AND ITS RELATION WITH :

· Graphic and human scales in architectural representation.
· Synthetic representation of the human figure and its addition to architectural drawings. Canons and proportion units. 

 

VISUAL SEQUENCES OF ARCHITECTURAL SPACES:

· Simplified sketches in the control of the visual tour of indoor's buildings.
·  Simplified sketches in the control of the visual tour of urban outdoors.

 

REPRESENTATION OF ARCHITECTURE'S DETAILS

· Approximation to the elements that form the architectural space. Scale changing.
· Constructive details.
· Graphic analysis of built architecture.

 

OTHER REPRESENTATION TECHNIQUES:

Collage, model and photo montage
